Distinguished by remarkable skill in his field, as well as uncommon dedication to his patients’ wellbeing, Dr. Norman Y. Otsuka is a most fitting recipient of this year’s Physician Appreciation Award. Despite his extremely busy schedule and many obligations, Dr. Otsuka goes out of his way to assist those in need of care, even at the most inconvenient times.

Dr. Norman Otsuka is a renowned pediatric-orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in neuromuscular disorders, orthopaedic trauma and cerebral palsy. He earned his medical degree from McMaster University in Ontario, Canada and served his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Toronto. Dr. Otsuka also completed a fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School.

Dr. Otsuka has held a number of high-level positions, including Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedic Service at University of California in San Francisco, Chief of Staff at Shriners Hospital for Children in Los Angeles and Director of The Center for Children, NYU Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases. Today, he serves as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore.
