Important Bulletin from Achiezer
June 02, 2020
Dear Community,

We have waited until this juncture to send out the foregoing as we wish to provide a brief yet accurate assessment of the planned protests within our neighborhood. As everyone now knows, there is an organized march in the Far Rockaway/Mott Avenue area to peacefully protest and commemorate the recent tragic death of George Floyd. There are other rallies planned for Nassau Country as well. We have all seen the unsettling footage from around the City and around the country and, needless to say, many are fearing the worst. Community activists, including members of the JCCRP, RNSP and others have worked with the organizers of these protests as well as with members of law enforcement to ensure that everything runs smoothly and that most of all that our community is kept safe. They are prepared to take any action necessary to stop violence, should any occur.

Our mandate has always been and continues to be to ensure proper communication and safety for our community and its residents. At this point in time, we are constantly in contact with every level of law enforcement, in both New York City and Nassau County Police Departments, both of whom work tirelessly to ensure the safety of our community. Our local law enforcement is from the best of the best and they are bringing in every available resource to ensure the safety of our community.

We wish to remind you to please refrain from using social media or any other platform to spread unverified information as this can cause mass panic or worse. We, in turn, promise that any urgent bulletin which requires dissemination will be sent out as expeditiously as possible.

Please note that there is a curfew in effect for the entire New York City beginning this evening at 8:00 PM, as well as a 7:00 PM curfew for the Villages of Lawrence and Cedarhurst. Beginning late this afternoon, please try to remain in your homes. Naturally, if you see or hear anything suspicious whatsoever, immediately call 911.

On behalf of a very grateful community, we salute and extend our appreciation to Captain Eric Robinson of the NYPD, Inspector Joseph Barbieri of the NCPD and Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder of the NCPD.

Wishing everyone a safe and wonderful rest of your week,

Team Achiezer
